My practice is currently full, and I don’t anticipate any openings any time soon. I wish you well on your path of healing and wholeness.
Office Address:
115 LIBERTY STREET, SUITE 9, PETALUMA, CA 94952
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both California (LCS11949 since 1986) and Hawaii (LCS3646 since 2010).
I have recently completed the Certificate in Psychedelic Therapies and Research program through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, California. This work, including Psychedelic Integration, is now a predominant focus of my psychotherapy practice.
My previous work in the hospice field — supporting people through their dying process and their loved ones through grief — predominated my professional life for 30 years. This work has taught me not only about death and dying, but also about how to assist people through life’s crises and traumas, and how to support people to live their lives in the face of great adversity and pain.
I also currently volunteer for the Insight Prison Project at San Quentin State Prison where I co-facilitate a Restorative Justice group for incarcerated men serving life in prison. This work has been tremendously influential to me in learning about the power of redemption; how to deepen empathy and see the humanity in everyone; and how all of us can be healed through a process of accountability, self-forgiveness and compassion. It also reminds me that all of us are more than the worst of our behaviors.
My own breast cancer diagnosis in late 2015 has deeply sensitized me to the complex psychological and emotional dimensions of living with cancer. I am currently thriving on the other side of diagnosis and treatment, and am eager to support those who are coping with cancer or other life-threatening illness and their loved ones.
I have worked in many other settings, including community mental health agencies, health clinics, and educational and correctional institutions. I have studied and worked with the Body Electric School and the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, both of which have been instrumental for me in learning about the intrinsic link between sexuality and spirituality and the importance of bringing a somatic focus into the work that I do.
My current private practice in Petaluma is open to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
